Research

My growing research stream revolves around two main areas. The first research pipeline investigates social cognitive factors within the workplace and entrepreneurial ventures. The second research stream explores entrepreneurial decisions and processes at the individual and team levels. Specifically, my research focuses on the hybrid entrepreneurship phenomenon- the simultaneous engagement in paid employment and entrepreneurial activity. By using a psychological approach, motivational and occupational choices frameworks, I examine performance differences within various entrepreneurial engagements. Furthermore, I am equally interested in researching leadership behaviors and decision making within organizations and their impact on subordinates.

Commitment to DEI

I have had the good fortune of having lived in two continents, nations, and cultures, while working with people from diverse backgrounds abroad and within the United States. This experience of crossing borders has helped me cultivate a multicultural perspective, allowing me to flourish personally and professionally. For more than a decade, my combined work experiences in the government and private sectors allowed me to interact with people from different backgrounds, languages, religions, and cultures. I embrace cultural diversity as a tool to understand others by valuing their differences and our common interests. I have worked to create collaborative spaces that have led to lifelong friendships and strong teams that deliver results. By engaging with people of diverse backgrounds, I learned to appreciate, contribute and commit to promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives inside and outside of my classroom.
